Lavender Education is a national education program focused on bringing LGBTQIA+ history and education to people of all ages, building the confidence of educators to create inclusive classrooms and schools, and working alongside youth leaders to support their activism and advocacy.

Founded in the summer of 2023, Lavender Education has ambitious goals for the coming years:

  • Offer LGBTQIA+ history courses for people of all ages (registration now open)

  • Provide professional development workshops to educators, staff, and students in schools and youth centers across the country with a focus on New York and New England to start (request here)

  • Launch a national youth leadership program providing funding to young activists to support their work and build their skills

  • Work with youth-led organizations nationally to advance policy initiatives and demands of the 2023 March for Queer and Trans Youth Autonomy led by Queer Youth Assemble

  • Provide direct support to districts and states experiencing barriers to LGBTQIA+ education

  • Work with national archives to design an exhibit focused on queer and trans youth history

  • Host a conference for youth and educators to implement LGBTQIA+ inclusive curriculum
